If Only

Tonight I walked briskly into Target to get out of the cold air as fast as possible.  I did not even break stride upon approaching the automatic doors.  As they opened and I breezed through them, I thought, man I trusted those things…if they had not opened I would have seriously smacked into them.  There are many things in life which I count on so much that I do not even question them.

How I wish I trusted God like I trust…

automatic doors
chairs
deodorant
cars
shoes
make-up
vitamins
light switches
contact lenses
refrigerators
soap
stairs
bridges
brakes

Lord, forgive me forgive me for my doubting faith.  Thank you for working with me and growing me, even through experiences with automatic doors.  It’s embarrassing and insulting that I put so much trust in things.  They are failing; You are unfailing.  They are passing; You are eternal.  They are worthless; Your value is immeasurable.  Thank you good Lord.  Amen
